ALUMINIUM casting
DESCRIPTION
Aluminum electrode with 12% Si for welding and repairing aluminum or aluminum alloy pieces (AlSi, AlCuSiMn, AlSiMg). Especially designed for welding cast and extruded aluminum alloys with Si levels higher than 7%. Dissimilar joints between aluminum and aluminum alloys.
APPLICATION
- Aluminum casting.
- Pump housings.
- Engine block.
- Aluminum impellers.

Technique and recommendations:
Before welding all oil, grease, and dirt should be removed and all the weld area must be cleaned.
Preheat massive pieces (more than 6mm of thickness) to 150-250°C.
The best results are achieved with a short arc and the electrode angled 90° to the piece that is welded.
Use a Fast travel speed, remove slag between passes and when finished.
In post-welding cleaning, the resistant oxide layer should be removed with a non-contaminated stainless steel with brush. Afterwards the welded area should be rinsed with clean, hot water.
Aluminum electrodes are very sensitive to humidity pick-up; therefore keep the open tins in a dry place.
* Can also be used with an oxygen torch.
* the electrode can be welded on small inverters with high O.C.V only.
